Facing early February snow (six inches of it, to be exact), the vines of the Calcifet Vineyard remained brown and dormant in their anticipation for spring. Despite their gnarled and woody appearance, however, the vines certainly weren't lifeless, and Herschel the Applin sensed that as he frolicked between them. The rolling green apple was a vibrant presence of life amidst the acres of land that surrounded it, zooming across the snow and leaving flurries in its wake.[break][break]

Dressed in a warm black puffer jacket, lined with faux fur along the edges of its hood, Remiel escorted Stormy down a stone-cobbled path that cut through the vineyard towards the large estate at its center. Purple crocuses bloomed through the snow at the edges of the path-- the only life abundantly present besides them and the playful Applin.[break][break]

"How was the trip here, Stormy?" The spectacled royal asks, his breath escaping his mouth as ephemeral puffs of white as he spoke. "If I'd known about the snowstorm sooner, I would have rescheduled."[break][break]

Summoning a SUNNY DAY would be easy, of course. But it would also interfere with the natural balance of his crop.[break]

Snow is kicked up in the wake of the cheery little Applin. Stormy's attention glances up to witness it, watching as the tiny creature disappears into the deep snow, only to reappear a moment later. It seems to be having a wonderful time, unbothered by the cold. It brings a warm smile to her face.[break][break]

And in fact, even Stormy is bundled up for the colder weather - though one has to wonder if it's even necessary. Regardless, the woman's scarf is tucked close to her face, both a cute accessory and a useful tool to prevent her cheeks from getting any rosier.[break][break]

Her boots click against the stone steps, and she is careful to place her steps purposely so as to not slip. Remiel's voice breaks her train of thought, however, and the woman turns her chin up to face him. One gloved hand rises to tug the scarf from her mouth so she could respond.[break][break]

"It was fine! And a little snow never hurt anybody, I don't mind, really."[break][break]

Rather, the issue lay in visiting Rustboro at all. It always seemed to dampen her mood in some way-- worse now that Alex was gone. She smiles, though the gesture seems forced and half-hidden behind a layer of fuzzy fabric as she glances away from him again.[break][break]

Seeing her dressed so warmly herself was a sight Remiel hadn't been graced with before. He supposed his worry over her run-in with the snowstorm came partly from the fact that he'd imagined her in her typical attire. Shaking such thoughts out of his head before it rosied his cheeks further, however, he responded with an approving hum.[break][break]

"Well I'm glad to hear it. It really is nice being able to finally show you the fruits of my labor." He smiles, offering her his arm as they pass between the gnarled vines. "I'm particularly proud of the work I've done at the draciary." He adds, watching as his Applin returns to them covered in frost. It happily hops alongside Stormy in particular, beaming up at her with expressive yellow eyes.[break][break]

"Thankfully, the conflict at Meteor Falls only damaged my efforts there slightly," Remiel continues. "Though it did serve to rile up the dragons."[break]

Stormy glances up at him, amusement glinting in her eye. Her gloved hand shifts from her side, thumb wrapped around the strap of her purse to slowly fitting into the bend of his arm. He is warm, warmer now that she's closer to him. She subconsciously squeezes at the same time she opens her mouth to speak.[break][break]

"I'm flattered you were willing to share it with me."[break][break]

Stormy's attention on him lingers a moment longer before the Galarian's Applin pulls her away with its continued charm. Big, blinking yellow eyes stare up at her and she smiles down at it.[break][break]

"Do you need any assistance with the draciary? The conflict at Meteor Falls wasn't too bad, was it?"[break][break]

There is a flicker of surprise followed by concern as she faces Remiel. She had been part of the excavation in Meteor Falls, but she hadn't been aware of any damages done to the surrounding area.[break][break]

Remiel laments with a sigh. "The estate took the brunt of the damage. The entrance hall was almost entirely obliterated. Many priceless artifacts and paintings that graced it remain forever perished, but we've finished rebuilding just recently." He adds.[break][break]

From the looks of it, at least from afar, the grand multi-storied palace (of sorts) hadn't endured any destruction at all. Though the sheet of powder white snow covering its rooftops could easily give an onlooker the impression that they were only seeing a fraction of its current state. The building looked wholly pristine otherwise. Though Remiel could do without the small flock of Pidove that had chosen to congregate upon the library tower.[break][break]

"I appreciate the offer, however," The royal continues as he leads her further up the path, arm-in-arm. Her body heat (natural or otherwise) provides some relief from the cold breeze that sweeps through. "Do you have a lot of experience with dragons?"[break]

Her attention shifts to the recently reconstructed building, however, though there is a solemn silence in it. In a way, it is reminiscent of the loss of her family home. It brings a pang of empathy and unease. She exhales slowly through her nose, squeezing Remiel's arm to offer him further comfort. [break][break]

"Dragons? If they breathe fire I'm probably interested."[break][break]

She laughs.[break][break]

"Yes, I'm quite familiar with dragons - Charizard's are my specialty-- and yes, Remiel, I am aware they are not technically dragons."[break][break]

Her brows furrow and she stares at him, as if challenging him to dare argue with her.[break][break]

Stormy's gentle squeeze does not go unnoticed. In fact, Remiel savors the comfort he finds with it. He hadn't even realized he'd needed... whatever this was so much. While in the presence of her company, the royal could feel it clear as day... though he couldn't exactly place his finger on what it was. Why bother when he could simply just enjoy in it?[break][break]

He laughs alongside her when she makes her remark, though his is much quieter, softer, and curt. "Plenty of them do, yes. I'm curious to see what they'd think of you." As they finally reach the front patio, ascending a set of stone steps to enter the courtyard, the cobalt-eyed prince smiles in response to the fire in her eyes. It seems as though she'd dealt with this alot.[break][break]

"Well, actually..." He mutters, raising his free hand to his chin. But he stops himself there, and that smile bursts into a chuckle after his shifts his gaze back onto her. "I kid. They certainly are. On some level, anyway." Up ahead, a butler emerges from the estate's front entrance to open and hold the door for them. The man makes one of three who chose to stay behind and work for the holiday.[break][break]

"Just wait until you see the draciary," Remiel continues. "Most people are surprised what else can be considered 'dragon' as well. Thank you, Costeau. You're free to retire for the day." He offers the middle-aged butler an appreciative nod before parting his arm from Stormy's, gesturing for her to enter first.[break][break]

"Very well, sir."

Inside, a massive entrance hall awaits. A pair of wide stairs lead up to the second floor above. The entrance hall itself is large enough to house these stairs, a lounge area, a fireplace, and several trophy cases and bookshelves against the wall. There are many doors throughout as well, leading to various different rooms. Most notably, however, is the seamless passage into an incredibly spacious kitchen and dining area.[break][break]

Herschel the Applin bumps past their legs to make his way in first, rolling around gleefully on the velvety red carpet. Careful to avoid bumping into any of the furniture, such as the cabinets holding various different artifacts and mementos on display, the Applin eventually rolls away into the kitchen area nearby. He can smell something sweet baking.[break][break]

In the meantime, the butler closes the door behind the pair and heads off. Remiel unwraps his scarf and takes off his coat, placing them both upon a coat hanger before offering to help Stormy shed her winter clothing as well. "Are you hungry? I figured we'd have a little something to eat first." He says, helping her take off her jacket should she want to.[break]

Stormy tilts her cheek to face him, a warm smile glowing against rosy cheeks. It's impossible to tell whether the warmth in her face is the result of the cold or the stirring of some sort of emotion in her chest. However, it prompts her to avert her gaze discreetly, suddenly self-conscious under his gaze and quiet attention.[break][break]

"They have wings, they breath fire, what else do they need?"[break][break]

She even taps at the warm pendant resting against her chest. It seems to react to her touch, swirling with energy. Wadjet's megastone pulses with draconic energy for a moment before calming.[break][break]

As it does, and as her hand falls back to her side, movement catches the woman's attention. She pauses momentarily at the sight of the man waiting for them in front of the doors. He appears to be holding them open for the pair, and Remiel speaks to the man, bidding him to retire.[break][break]

The woman dips her head politely to the butler as she steps in, though she glances back due to Remy having stepped away from her. She is no longer hanging off of his arm and she feels bare and out of place. When she takes a glance about the room, she can feel the nostalgia of her old home- at least in some aspects- creeping back in.[break][break]

Something bumps against her leg just as Remiel strips himself of his coat. Just as she is about to remove her own, his warmth approaches from behind to assist her. At his touch, she feels her skin tingle as if in anticipation, though she doesn't pull away or discourage the action. Instead, she chooses to glance over her shoulder to smile up at him, pulling her arm out of the remaining sleeve and smoothing out her blouse sleeves.[break][break]

"You're spoiling me, Remiel."[break][break]

Whatever delicious, sweet smells waft in from the kitchen which had beckoned the Applin beckon her, now, in turn. She breathes in deeply, eyes closing to really enjoy and focus on the aroma. It brings a comfortable smile to her features, and she lets her shoulders relax.[break][break]

"It smells heavenly."[break][break]

The megastone dangling just above her chest, and the swirling draconic energy within it, draws the attention of his eyes. Charizardite X. Origin unknown but, if he had to hazard a guess... Hoennian. Lavaridge region. It was quite polished. He wondered if she'd found it herself, or if it'd been given as a gift.[break][break]

His eyes break away from it as he takes off her jacket, and he meets the smile she casts over her shoulder with a warm look. "You're my guest here, and I don't get the chance to spoil you often, now do I?" In truth, he felt as though he were spoiling himself with her company more than the other way around. He only wished they had more time.[break][break]

"It's Appletun pie," He says, hanging her coat neatly before gesturing for her to follow him into the kitchen. Though he stops to savor that smile of hers for a moment. The interior of the estate seemed brighter for it. Its dark corners slowly slinking away. "Care to share in the guilty pleasure?"[break]

Guiding her into the kitchen nearby, the rich aroma of an Appletun pie grows stronger against their nostrils. Herschel can't wait. The little green Applin has already eagerly placed himself in front of the sleek, silver oven housing the pastry dish. Its cartoonishly happy eyes remained fixed on the only modern-looking kitchen appliance there.[break][break]

As he enters the spacious rural kitchen, the black-haired prince swipes a brown apron from a hook beside the entrance. He begins to place it on as he approaches the countertop, but leaves his apron cords untied as leans forward to find a paring knife from a wooden knife block there. "It's a traditional Galarian pastry dish. I'm curious, where did you try it?" He asks, still looking for the right knife.[break][break]

He wasn't used to fiddling around in the kitchen himself. Furthermore, even without his maids, Earl Grey would have prepared all the necessary items and tied his apron for him as well. He'd given the ghost the day off today as well, however: a well-deserved teacup touch-up.[break]

Stormy offers nothing more than a wink following his rejection of the idea. Though he was right, she certainly wouldn't hear the end of it if she chose to blow off responsibilities to taste-test Appletun pies with the ambassador the rest of the week.[break][break]

But it would be far, far more enjoyable.[break][break]

Their footsteps click softly against the brushed wood as they near the kitchen. With each step, the aroma of perfectly-baked pie grows. It prompts a rumble from her belly, one that she covers immediately with her hand. She widens her eyes, emitting an awkward chuckle.[break][break]

Remiel reaches for the only apron in the room, and her attention slips to the dangling strings at his sides. When he leans forward across the countertop, the apron shifts. Though it still manages to protect his clothing from the counter's edge and whatever sticky ingredients might have been left behind, it's a close call.[break][break]

Before he has a chance to stand straight, Stormy has placed herself in his personal bubble, fingertips snatching the man's apron-strings. She tugs them gently, folding and looping them with ease to secure the article of clothing around the man.[break][break]

"Oh, I haven't- I just know it will be a new favourite of mine. I'm never wrong, you know."[break][break]

Her fingers linger, brushing his back just slightly as she retains a gentle hold on the drawstrings. It appears as though she is unaware of where her fingers are.[break][break]

He finds the paring knife he's been looking for. Just as he proceeds to pull it free from its knife block, however, the delicate touch of her fingers sends a surprised shiver up his spine. The prince straightens in posture as she finishes, his fingers sitting lightly on the hilt of the knife he's chosen.[break][break]

"Oh... is that right?" The royal smiles at her from over his shoulder, waiting to see when she'll decide to set him free. There's an amused gleam in his eye when he wonders whether she even realizes or not. "That's a bold thing to say without having tasted it yet. I wonder how you can be so sure of yourself."[break][break]

Leaving the knife in its block for the time being, Remiel instead reaches back with both hands, blindly finding Stormy's own before wrapping themselves around them. He gently guides her into a final tug of the drawstrings, ensuring his apron is on nice and snug. When it's done, his warm hands fall away from her own again, and he turns around to face her with a curious look in his eye as he leans against the counter.[break][break]
